Atakarejo is a wholesale and retail chain born in the state of Bahia and, until 2023, was entirely Bahian owned. With 31 years of history, it has gained regional prominence by combining competitive pricing with a wide variety of products, serving both end consumers and corporate clients. Starting in 2023, the company partnered with investment funds to accelerate its expansion plan, taking its business model to other states and municipalities. Growth has been rapid – in the last cycle alone, the chain expanded from 28 to more than 50 stores – increasing the need for more robust and scalable management processes.
Challenge
Before implementing T6 IFRS 16, Atakarejo managed the standard using Excel spreadsheets produced by an external consultant. This format created dependency, risk of errors and lack of traceability. The internal team did not have autonomy to update complex calculations, and each contract remeasurement required significant effort. With rapid expansion and a growing number of leased store contracts, complexity and inconsistency risks increased, directly impacting compliance and audit requirements.
Solution
In 2023, Atakarejo began the implementation of T6 IFRS 16 with Tech6. The project included:
- Migration of all contracts from the start of their useful life into the platform.
- Customization of reports to meet audit requirements and investment fund formats.
- System adaptation for specific scenarios, such as reduced contract terms and grace periods between lease signing and store opening.
- Integration of T6 IFRS 16 with the TOTVS ERP, eliminating manual entries.
The project, initiated in July, went live in October – even before the December audit – allowing data validation directly within the new system.
